Beyond Monet Immersive Exhibit Now @ The Del Mar Fairgrounds

By Courtney Daly-Pavone March 5, 2024

We learned so much about Claude Monet at the Beyond Monet immersive exhibit at Del Mar Fairgrounds

More than just pretty paintings of ladies and gentleman enjoying Spring weather, Monet was fascinated by the elements. He wanted to paint air and wind. He was a naturalist, who said that the beauty of flowers inspired him to paint. 1800's France was a major turning point as the Industrial Revolution was in full swing. So the clean air he painted, at times was polluted and he captured that in paintings like Gare Saint Lazare: The Arrival of a Train.

What's Great About Immersive Exhibits?

Previously we covered National Geographic's King Tut Immersive, and Beyond Van Gogh (which is also back at The Del Mar Fairgrounds). Immersive exhibits like Beyond Monet reenact how the art was created on the walls of the exhibit. Projectors display brush strokes, and blended colors are set to a soundtrack that emotes feelings that connect audiences to the artists work.

This exhibit begins with some background information on large displays that chronicle the life of Monet before visitors are invited into a giant hall for the immersive experience. There is also a VR experience (for an extra $15 not included in the general ticket price). The virtual reality experience tells the intimate story between Vincent Van Gogh and his brother Theo.

In a nutshell, if you love impressionism and Monet you'll definitely get something out of this immersive exhibit. You can purchase tickets for both Beyond Van Gogh and Beyond Monet. We finished the exhibit in an hour. Parking is not included in the ticket price, and is $20 per car.
