We Review Toasted Gastrobrunch La Mesa!

By Courtney Daly-Pavone January 17, 2024

Are you tired of the same old dining options? If San Diego feels like a food desert at times, behold there is an oasis- Toasted Restaurant at its new location in La Mesa!

Toasted has locations in Oceanside and Las Vegas. We were invited to a preview tasting at Toasted La Mesa that left our taste buds yearning for more! Toasted is the perfect setting for a family dinner, brunch with a friend, or breakfast worthy of a King. I brought another mom friend (who declined to be photographed), but we both agreed Toasted offers incredible menu options.

What We Ate...

I had the Denverish Scramble with Canadian bacon, Portuguese linguica sausage, tomatoes, bell peppers, red onions, cheddar, and Parmesan truffle potatoes. This combination was ingenious! It wasn't the same old bacon and eggs, but a protein packed vegetable and meat lover's dream! Truffle sauce on anything tastes great, and the Parmesan truffle potatoes were no exception. Every bite was delicious!

My guest had the French Toast Combo-French toast, 2 eggs any style, with a choice of bacon or Portuguese linguica sausage. She described it as the perfect balance between sweet and salty.

What We Really Found Impressive Was The Vast Array Of Menu Options.

Exotic dishes like Eggs in Purgatory served in a fresh bread bowl from Bread and Cie Bakery. There are entire menu sections dedicated to omelettes, pancakes, scrambles, bennies, various hashes and more made to please an individual palette!

If you're like me, dining with friends and family can sometimes be complicated. Trying to accommodate everyone's dietary preferences and restrictions is no easy feat, but everyone is happy at Toasted! Trust me!

Of course brunch isn't complete without some Mimosas, and Toasted serves $25 bottomless Mimosas daily! Cheers!

On To Dessert...

Yes you can have dessert for breakfast don't judge! We shared the Coconut Pistachio Kanafee- Shredded phyllo, ricotta & mozzarella cheese coconut, orange blossom syrup toasted brioche, topped with pistachios. This Middle Eastern dessert is ideal for a sweet tooth, which is yours truly. You can see why this recipe spanned the globe and made it onto a dessert plate in San Diego. It was the perfect ending to a delectable brunch, paired with a cappucino.

Toasted's decor is contemporary, and spacious with plenty of sunlight. The restaurant's French doors completely open to usher in light. There's indoor and outdoor seating, and the staff is courteous and knowledgeable about the menu! We can't wait to go back!
