Summer Fun @ Aquatica San Diego

By Courtney Daly-Pavone June 7, 2021

Aquatica Reopens!

We returned to Aquatica Waterpark in Chula Vista for a day of fun!

The kids enjoyed Big Surf Shores. Aquatica's largest wave pool with 500,000 gallons of water, Big Surf Shores is also one of the largest wave pools in Southern California!

Additional attractions include Tassie's Twister, a water slide that sends multi-person rafts through thousands of gallons of swirling water before dropping into a six-story funnel.

Taumata Racer, a high-speed racing water slide that zooms riders down a 375-foot slide, around a 180-degree swooping turn, and in and out of tunnels before racing them across a finish line.

Loggerhead Lane is a winding 1,250-foot-long lazy river to relax and take in the scenery.

Slippity Dippity kids under '48 inches can enjoy this waterslide with waterfalls. This attraction is perfect for young children.

California's Covid restrictions were still in place at the time of our visit (6/6/21) some of Aquatica's attractions were closed. Masks were required upon entry to the park, and seating was also limited, but that is expected to change after June 15th when state Covid restrictions are lifted. On busy days, it might be a good idea to rent a cabana or shaded lounge chair.

I highly recommend visiting Aquatica during off peak hours.

Aquatica is open seven days a week, and weekends are the busiest.

Aquatica hours:  Monday thru Friday 10 AM-7 PM

Weekends- 9 AM to 8 PM

You literally have the place to yourself on a weekday at 10 AM, or late afternoons Monday thru Friday.

Splash Passes Are Available-Pay for a Day Visit All Season-Cost $59.00, or for $121.99 you can get annual passes to both SeaWorld and Aquatica

It's a long summer with the kids, and it's great to have the option of taking them to an amusement park if you don't have vacation plans or camp lined up. Passes to these parks are a great investment.

*If you get the Splash pass, make sure at least one of your Aquatica passes includes parking. Parking is $35 a day, and there's no place to park near the park.

No food is allowed in Aquatica, but you can bring bottled water. Food is available for purchase. Reservations are also required in addition to having a pass, or ticket until June 15th when Covid restrictions are lifted.

We'll be back for more fun at Aquatica San Diego!
