Memorial Day 2021 it's time to celebrate with friends and family at barbecues, concerts, events, and attractions. Believe it or not, America is back open for fun! Here's a list of what's happening enjoy!


Visit Mount Soledad

FREE-Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial. Walk along the 11 walls, view the individual veterans plaques and climb the brick steps up to the cross for one of the city’s most magnificent views. Open daily, 7 am–10 pm. 6905 La Jolla Scenic Dr. at Via Capri, La Jolla. www.soledadmemorial.org

Naval History Tour at Maritime Museum of San Diego

After being closed for a year, the Maritime Museum’s popular naval history tour is back this Memorial Day weekend. The 75-minute tour takes visitors aboard their PCF 816 swift boat for a ride around the bay, and retired swift boat sailors will talk about their experiences as crewmen. Legacy Week @ The USS Midway FREE Entry for Teachers!

FREE Teacher Appreciation at the USS Midway. During the month of May, San Diego teachers get free admission to the USS Midway Museum. Must provide proof by presenting a teacher credential ID. Experience Legacy Week @ The USS Midway, see firsthand the museum’s extensive collection of naval aircraft and be captivated by the ship’s award-winning audio tour. Open Daily, 10 am–5 pm. Concerts @ Petco Park Ziggy Marley & The Beach Boys!

Memorial Day Concerts at Petco Park. Two back-to-back Memorial Day Weekend concerts at Petco Park. The Beach Boys, May 29 and on May 30 Grammy-winning reggae star Ziggy Marley plays a special tribute concert to his father, reggae icon Bob Marley. Each show will take place on the Petco Park field with the stage set up near second base. Tickets starting at $29. www.padres.com/concerts

Balboa Park Carousel Reopens!

The historic 1910 Balboa Park Carousel reopens after being shut down due to coronavirus. The ride will operate from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Tickets to ride are $3 per ride or four rides for $10. Find details at

Cinema Under The Stars

Enjoy an outdoor movie, projected on a 20-foot screen with surround sound, at Cinema Under The Stars in Mission Hills. This weekend’s flick is the 1988 fantasy/adventure/comedy “Princess Bride.” No outside food or drinks allowed, but concessions are available for $2 each.
