Back to SeaWorld-Rides Are Open Again!

By Courtney Daly-Pavone April 26, 2021

Now that San Diego is in the Orange Tier, SeaWorld has opened its rides again. We visited the park recently. We checked out rides, visited exhibits, and saw some shows.

What was open on our visit? Turtle Reef, Shark Encounter, Wild Artic, The Penguin exhibit, The Bat Ray exhibit, we saw the Orca Show, and went on rides at Sesame Place.

We visited on a Saturday afternoon. Although the park is operating at limited capacity, the shows filled up their seats pretty quickly. So if you plan on seeing a live show, arrive 30 minutes ahead of showtime. On our visit some rides were open like The Electric Eel, Shipwreck Rapids, Abby's Sea Star Spin, Oscar's Rockin' Eel, and Elmo's Flying Fish.

Advanced reservations are required, masks are mandatory, there are temperature checks before entering the park. Expect some lines for rides and exhibits since California law requires limited capacity.

We spent a fun day at SeaWorld. As you can probably tell, for us the animals are the biggest attraction.  There are so many benefits to visiting SeaWorld with your child. It's educational, fun, a pleasant day spent outdoors. We've visited SeaWorld for years, and my child's love of marine animals, nature, and conservation got it's start in places like SeaWorld, The San Diego Zoo, and The Birch Aquarium.

Take advantage of the opportunity to revisit SeaWorld now that it has reopened. It's an ideal way to engage kids in animal science, environmental conservation, and last but not least, the joy of childhood!
