It's been two years since our visit to the Flower Fields @ Carlsbad Ranch, and it was worth the wait!
Covid stopped us from making our annual trek to the fields in Carlsbad last year, but this year strolling through 50-acres of ranunculus flowers at The Flower Fields was like a heavenly dream. We felt so alive after being cooped up indoors. What a treat!
There are so many varieties and shades of flowers in the fields, I swear I saw colors my human eye hasn't see before. It was like living in an impressionist painting.
There is a lot to see and do at the fields. Kids will love Santa's Playground. It has whimsical playhouses, and enormous toadstools. This playground used to be at Santa's Village in Lake Arrowhead years ago.
There are antique tractor rides if you don't feel like walking through 50 acres. The tractors are from The Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum.
We loved getting lost in the Sweet Pea Maze, and my husband enjoyed learning about how this plant was imported from his native home of Sicily! Every time we visit The Flower Fields we learn something new.
Another fun fact, The Ecke family the original founders of the fields were the first to discover the pointsettia. They popularized it to become the Christmas plant we all know today. At the Flower Fields they grow several varieties of pointsettias.
It was wonderful to spend a Sunday outdoors with my family. After our visit to The Flower Fields, we enjoyed a lovely picnic at San Dieguito River Park.
Spring is the best time to be outdoors to take in nature's phenomenal colors!
