We are library people, and we missed the libraries classes, events, books, and free DVD rentals during the lockdown. To date, a few San Diego Public Libraries are partially open, mainly for pick-up and book drop off only, but there is one exception- The Coronado Public Library, otherwise known as the crown jewel of the library system.
This incredible library is 100% open!
In addition to books and DVD's, this library has exhibits including a diorama in the children's library, a train that runs through book shelves, and a traveling exhibit from The Mingei Museum. Anyone with a valid government issued I.D. can open a free library account. You do not have to be a Coronado resident. During the pandemic, all late fees have been waived.
It's a great place to find a cozy corner and read to your child. Older kids can enjoy the teen room. There's a cafe outside the library with ample seating.
We love the big windows and natural light that flows throughout the library. Afterwards, you can take a trip across the street to Spreckles Park a fantastic green open space with a playground and lots of room for picnics!
