We checked out The Julian Farm & Orchard located in the heart of Julian California on a sunny Sunday. Our mission to pick a pumpkin, and take part in the activities at this sprawling pumpkin and apple farm. They were out of apples, but there were plenty of pumpkins.
We Loved The Hayride!
We started our journey on a wagon hitched to a tractor. What better way to take in the beauty of acres of farmland, and get an overview of the activities. Our tour guide was amazing! He told us about the history of Julian, the crops, and even offered to take our pictures.
Axe Throwing
Where else can your child throw and axe safely, but at The Julian Farm & Orchard. My child felt like a character in Lord of The Rings. As he aimed for the target he built confidence in his survival skills. Even children as young as five were present taking part in this activity under the safety of a guide and their parents.
Petting Zoo
Goats, chickens, a cow, sheep, donkeys and a pig were all on display for children to interact with them. We are avid goat lovers, and you are allowed to hang out with the goats, and feed them hay.
Additional activities include the cider press demonstration, pumpkin patch, playground, and gift shop. This farm is dog friendly, drinks and snacks are for sale on the premises.
We had a great time at Julian Farm & Orchard. As a mom raising an active ten year old boy during a pandemic, I look for outdoor activities where my child can run around, and get some fresh air. Distance learning at home has created a real nature deficit, and any opportunity we can get to take in some Vitamin D is highly appreciated.
How many tickets for each activity on the weekend?
(1 ticket costs $1, 2 and under free with a paying adult)
Hayride- 5 tickets per person
Cider pressing- 1 ticket per person to work the press, or 6 tickets for a pint of sealed and pasteurized cider.
Axe throwing- 3 tickets for 5 throws
Barnyard visits- 3 tickets per person
Pumpkins range in price of course but tickets can be used on pumpkin and tent merchandise.
