The Drive-Thru Scream Zone Del Mar Fairgrounds

At some point in your kid's life Halloween turns from spooky to scary. They love the thrills and chills, and we found two places that offer a fair share of screams!

We checked out the Drive-Thru Scream Zone in Del Mar on a Friday night just after sun down. The Del Mar Fairgrounds is the perfect setting for Drive-Thru Scream Zone. They utilize the old stables as a backdrop for plenty of scary props: mannequins, broken baby dolls, cauldrons, and performers dressed in their scariest apparel. If you love Halloween, you'll love the Drive-Thru Scream Zone.

I went with two ten year old kids and they enjoyed the dark drive through zombie, and ghost towns. If your child is sensitive to lights, fog, and ghouls then this probably isn't for them. As an adult, I had a blast and I was startled more than once, and this was me being vigilant. To enjoy this experience you should definitely have your headlights on low, drive a few feet behind other cars, and turn the light off in your vehicle to get the best scare.

The Haunted Corn Maze @ The Carlsbad Strawberry Company is truly scary. It's open Friday and Saturday nights, lit only by moonlight you walk through a maze with the likes of zombies, Mike Meyers, scary clowns, and ghosts. Each turn is an act of bravery for you never know who you'll meet, plus finding your way out of the maze requires skill! This attraction is for those seeking a real thrill, and it's the perfect activity for teens!

If you aren't into being terrified, there are plenty of other attractions @ The Carlsbad Strawberry Company like their other corn maze which isn't haunted, apple cannons, and bouncy houses.
