Check out these fun STEAM Workshops happening this spring at San Diego Public Libraries!

"DIY Rainforest Terrariums" teaches kids the importance of this diverse Biome, and create your very own miniature rainforest. We'll GO WILD with this Hands-On workshop that's fun, educational, and not to be missed! This program is presented by Toshwerks.

Go Wild with Zovargo

 How many different animal species call the rainforest home? Millions! Grab your magnifying glass and get ready to GO WILD as you discover some of the beautiful animals that make up the rainforest. You’ll also learn what we can do to help these animals that are in danger of becoming extinct! This program is presented by Zovargo.

Minecraft: Go Wild & Explore the Rainforest!

Using the power of Minecraft: Education Edition, learn about Biodiversity and explore the effects that extinction has on the environment. Enter a Rainforest Biome, create an ecosystem, document the extinction and use MakeCode to code your character to help the environment. This program is presented by Microsoft.

Saving Conures Through Conservation

 Learn all about San Diego’s wild parrots, including three species of Conures that are native to the rainforests in South America. We will discuss ways to practice conservation in our everyday lives to help support wild parrots across the globe, and even create a fun enrichment pinecone treat for local birds to snack on! This program is presented by SoCal Parrot.

Sounds of the Rainforest: Making a Manguaré

 Learn how the Bora-Huitoto People, one of the many tribes living on the Amazon forest, make and use their drums to communicate among themselves and between villages. Create and decorate a small drum replica and learn rhythmic patterns for music and communication purposes. This program is presented by Arts for Learning.
