Learn About Mexico @ The San Diego Children's Discovery Museum

Root Series Mexico

By Courtney Daly-Pavone October 21, 2019

We had an awesome time at the kick off for Root Series Mexico at The San Diego Children's Discovery Museum

Root Series is a free program that features cultural performances, crafts, costumes, and other activities to showcase a country's rich art and history. At the opening ceremony for Root Series Mexico, youth dancers from Ballet Folklorico El Tapatio performed a number of regional dances, and invited kids on stage to participate. Patrons also had a chance to taste complimentary Mexican cuisine.

Celebrate Mexico Now Until December 2019 @ The San Diego Children's Discovery Museum

During the program month, the Global Village and Marketplace exhibit is transformed to reflect the culture, along with books and costumes. Additionally, craft and storytime will carry the theme of Mexico with a different book and craft each week of that month.

Roots events are held on the third Saturday of alternating months from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and included with museum admission.

Root Series Mexico will be on display now until December 2019.

Root Series Spain begins December 21, 2019.

In addition to Root Series Mexico, The San Diego Children's Discovery Museum has several STEAM exhibits that are engaging, fun, and hands on. The museum is perfect for a playdate, or a great place for your child to make new friends! We had a playdate at the museum, and the kids spent several hours building, tinkering, and learning. Time well spent!
