Labor Day Beach Guide For San Diego

Labor Day is the last hurrah, a time to soak up the summer sun. You might spend this long Labor day weekend at one of San Diego's seventy miles of beaches! Every San Diego beach has it's own character. Want to play? Go to Mission Beach, for a laid back vibe, head over to Ocean Beach. If you want to avoid the waves there's the Children's Pool La Jolla, but if you're looking for some great beaches this holiday weekend that are quiet and less of a scene, check out our list below and don't forget your sunscreen!

Tourmaline Surfing Park

 La Jolla Blvd and Tourmaline St La Jolla, CA 92109 Free Parking

This picturesque beach is great for a walk, swim, or various activities like surfing, windsurfing, kiteboarding, or bonfires. It feels hidden, and a walk along the beach can lead you to the postcard perfect Crystal Pier, and nearby boardwalk with more than three miles of shops and restaurants.

Fanuel Beach Park

Got little ones? Fanuel Beach Park is great because it's located on the bay, no worries about big waves, and it has a playground, restrooms on site, volleyball, and a boardwalk for bicyclists. Various activities take place on the bay like paddleboarding and surf lessons.


Mission Point

Want to avoid the crowds at Mission Beach? Head to Mission Point located on the bay, and down the street from Mission Beach. It's immaculately clean, has sandy beaches, lawn space, and play equipment. It's ideal for families with young children! it’s a nice change of pace and has calm protected waters. Swimming, boating, sailing, and kayaking are common activities from this spot. To get there drive south from the Belmont Park Amusement Park on Mission Boulevard to the end of the road and turn left into the parking lot.
