Have You Ever Wanted To Star in An Action Movie?
Universal Studios Hollywood is probably the closest you'll ever get to being a part of movie magic. This unique theme park has simulated rides that make you feel like you're smack in the middle of a blockbuster film!
We had a chance to preview some of the park's latest attractions and rides: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Jurassic World The Ride, Transformers the Ride-3D, and Despicable Me Minion Mayhem. It was a day my family will never forget!
This was our first time at Universal, so we also saw some old favorites like the World Famous Studio Tour, The Simpsons Ride and more! We squeezed in two live shows Universal's Animal Actors and Waterworld.
Animal Actors stars live animals that are used in films. Their trainers share tricks of the trade. In a word ADORABLE!
Waterworld takes audiences to a time when the polar ice caps have melted, and only a few survivors remain in search of dry land. This action packed live show, has tons of special effects that will leave you on the edge of your seat. *Spoiler alert-A plane crashes in this show!
What I loved most about the park is that there is always something to see and do, not a moment is wasted. We went from one great attraction to the next, and were pleasantly surprised every time. The Character Sightings were especially fun, seeing some of our favorite people like The Simpsons roaming the streets made for a memorable day.
Our Top 4 Favorite Rides & Attractions
My family loves dinosaurs, so Jurassic World The Ride was priority number one. You ride on a raft (you don't get wet), through the age of dinosaurs. This simulated ride is state of the art, and the dinos look like they're about to devour you. It's bone chilling being face to face with Tyrannosaurus rex just before a 84 foot plunge down a waterfall! We loved seeing dinosaurs come to life merged with the excitement of the ride.
2. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
“The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” transports guests of all ages to the places they read about in the stories or watched on the silver screen. It took five years to build this attraction, and it's very impressive from the snow-capped roofs, cobblestone streets, old fashioned shops, to two Harry Potter themed rides that will knock your socks off!
Harry Potter and The Forbidden Journey - An immersive ride inside Hogwarts castle. You will get to explore the interior Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and more! Then the opportunity of a lifetime, flying above the skies of Hogwarts with Harry Potter. You don't have to be a die-hard Potter fan to enjoy this one of a kind experience.
Have you ever had a dream that you were flying? Well this ride is just like one of those dreams, honestly, I could have rode this one all day!
Flight of the Hippogriff is a family-friendly roller coaster that spirals and dives around the pumpkin patch.
3. Studio Tour-Behind-The-Scenes Tram Ride
Not to be missed! The studio tour takes you behind the scenes of backlot sets, and soundstages. Experience an earthquake, flash flood, and police chase with the stars of Fast and Furious all while learning some of the secrets of movie making. Plus you'll get to drive by The Bates Motel, and the town of Amity from the film Jaws, even see the wreckage of a 747 plane crash from the movie War of the Worlds. Truly fun for the entire family!
Based on the popular movie, this ride fuses 3D HD media and flight simulation technology to create an adventure that puts you in the middle of a war zone.

Super Silly Funland- A giant outdoor carnival with rides and activities for children and old.
The Wet Zone-There are 80 different water play attractions to keep kids of all ages busy and cool!

Raptor Encounter- Meet Blue, the most beloved Velociraptor from Jurassic World as well as Triceratops and a Baby Raptor!
DinoPlay - Kids can excavate giant dinosaur fossils at a discovery dig site, explore a full-size T. rex skull and dinosaur eggs, play on the jungle climber, a rope plank bridge and more.
The Simpsons Ride-Soar across Springfield on this virtual reality roller coaster ride.

Hurray for Hollywood! There's no other theme park in the world like Universal Studios. We loved every ride and attraction, and my son didn't want to leave. He's already plotting our next return, I can't blame him!
Now thru August 11, “Dark Arts at Hogwarts™ Castle” returns to Universal Studios Hollywood with a mesmerizing display of light, music and special effects that unleashes the dark creatures and villains within “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.”
