If you've never heard of the San Diego Public Library Summer Reading Program listen up! SRP is one of the best things about summer in San Diego. It's free entertainment: music concerts, dance performances, magic and puppet shows, science demos, live animal encounters, art classes, even a carnival. You thought the library was just about books? Well during the summer reading program, books come to life. As a dolphin mom (I believe children learn through play) it's not only fun for kids, and something to get you out of the house without breaking the bank, but it inspires learning. Best of all, kids get rewarded for reading books.
Children must register online to participate in this prize incentive reading program. To start they must read ten books, log book info online, and then pick up their prizes at their local library.
Prizes in the past have included Legoland tickets, free kids meals at Chipotle and Daphnes Greek Cafe, free museum tickets, and free toys! Kids can continue to read and collect prizes all summer long. Say goodbye to the summer slide!
