Guys and Dolls

Now Playing @ The Coronado Playhouse

By Courtney Daly-Pavone February 22, 2019

Music heals the soul, and comedy warms the heart so Guys and Dolls is just what the doctor ordered!

This show dates back to 1950's New York with a bunch of zoot suit wearing gamblers who find themselves mixed up with a missionary group in a classic tale of good verses evil (the charming kind). Set in New York City's Time Square in the mid-20th century, Guys and Dolls is populated with gangsters and gamblers, missionary dolls and showgirls, and one great musical score that ranks high in American theatre. Larger-than-life characters- deliver hit song after hit song, including Luck be a Lady, Sit Down You’re Rocking the Boat, If I Were a Bell, and Take Back Your Mink. This show has lots of one-liners and catchy tunes that appeal to audiences of all ages.

Guys and Dolls begins with a bet. Nathan Detroit bets high-rolling gambler Sky Masterson that Sky cannot persuade Save-A-Soul Missionary, Sister Sarah Brown, to accompany him on a trip to Cuba. You'll find yourself immersed in a time gone bye as performances by Christopher T Miller who plays Sky Masterson, and Olivia Torres who portrays Sarah Brown steal the show with their chemistry and vocal talent. Equally impressive are Alyssa Anne Slagle as Miss Adelaide and Dave Rivas as Nathan Detroit. Will Sky woo Sister Sarah? Will Nathan marry his showgirl girlfriend Adelaide? See it to find out and enjoy edge of your seat entertainment, full of laughs.
