Step Into Pachis Art Studio for Kids Liberty Station

Where Creativity Flows!

By Courtney Daly-Pavone February 19, 2019

Pachis Art Studio in Liberty Station is a different kind of art studio. Step into Pachis and your child will learn art in an open-ended way that goes as far as their imagination takes them. According to Juliana Flores Owner of Pachis, "At Pachis, we incorporate sewing, painting, mixed media, design, etc.. So although we teach a specific curriculum with a defined theme every month, we leave all our projects open ended to a certain extent so that children take it as far and creative as their imagination allows it."

We dropped in for a Valentine's Day art class where my son got to sew a heart cushion, and create a one of a kind Valentine's day heart. The Beatles played in the background, and children calmly created their artwork under the guidance of the teacher. My son described the experience as enjoyable, was proud of his creations and vowed to return again.

The Pachis Difference

According to Juliana, Pachis uses a method called process art. "We focus on the creative process rather than on the final outcome or final project. This allows children to expand their creative development among other things. I've created a curriculum that focuses on developing the child within him/her self, their relationship with the community, the world and the arts." What does that mean? Pachis is designed for the whole family to be creative. In addition to kids classes, there are family art classes inspired by famous artists like Basquiat. Recently, families were invited for an Open Art Studio to create a city scape out of recycled materials inspired by the artist Basquiat.

Juliana states, "At Pachis, we focus on developing the child’s imagination, learning more about themselves before learning about other artists or other art movements. Our classes, camps and birthday parties are designed to build growth, define gross/fine motor skills, support decision  making and problem solving. All this while making amazing art projects and keeping a fun and safe space for everyone that comes through our doors."
