Battling a life threatening illness can be very isolating, especially for children who just want to play and go to school like other kids. That's where Unravel Pediatric Cancer comes in. Unravel was founded by the parents of Jennifer Lynn Kranz, a six-year-old who was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, DIPG. Every year Unravel supports and honors a San Diego family battling childhood cancer. A community is built around these families who come together, finding the best way to direct their energy and resources. Unravel is a CURE foundation, their goal to support every family and child affected by pediatric cancer.

Cornhole Tournament is taking place this Saturday 9/22 @ Second Chance Beer participants can enjoy craft beer, yard games, and have a chance to win a weekend getaway at Barona Resort & Casino. This event is 21+ and is a great way to causally get to know the Unravel team with a few beers and yard games! Tickets to hang: $15; Tickets to play Cornhole: $25. Food truck and beer to purchase! All funds raised will be donated to Unravel Pediatric Cancer.

You Can Help Kids Like Kira Stanely
This year Unravel is supporting local, Encinitas, surfer-girl and high school student, Kira Stanley, and her family. Kira is a 16 year old who was diagnosed with the same type of brain tumor as Jennifer Kranz, DIPG. Kira has started her own awareness campaign, Brain Tumor Hall Pass, #BTHP.

After a short 4 years, Jennifer Kranz's donated tumors and money raised from Unravel, has resulted in an amazing breakthrough -- Creating stem cell lines from Jennifer's tumor. How can folks get involved?
From bake sales to lemonade stands, to group workouts and wine/paint nights Unravel Pediatric Cancer aims to cure childhood cancer. There are many ways to help. The easiest way is to come have fun at an Unravel event and bring a friend. This non-profit has team of volunteers that work throughout the year to secure donations and prepare for events. They are always looking for help. My neighbor volunteers for Unravel as a photographer and promotes social media for the non-profit.

November 17, 2018 is the big annual event, Unravel the Night (also 21+), at the Downtown Library for a casino night complete with cocktails, gourmet food, a live (and silent) auction. Tickets to this go on sale at the end of this week. Pre-sale, discounted tickets, will be available to purchase at the Cornhole event!!
