On the third Saturday of every month, families can have early access to galleries 9-10 a.m. and an IMAX showing at 10 a.m. in a quieter setting, an hour before regular open hours to the general public. There is also access to a special cool-off space. Visitors are welcome to stay and enjoy the museum all day. Admission includes a special IMAX film screening at 10 a.m. with the house lights on and a lower soundtrack volume. The San Diego Natural History Museum 1788 El Prado San Diego 92101

ASD Mornings take place the second Sunday of every month. The Museum will open at 9 AM*, one hour earlier than its standard 10 AM opening time, providing a quiet and less-crowded environment. Visitors can explore the Museum’s galleries at their own pace and watch a private showing of Ocean Oasis in the giant screen theater, with a lower volume and higher light levels. In addition, on ASD Mornings the Museum will offer a “quiet room” from 9 AM to noon if visitors need a quiet space to decompress or desensitize. https://www.sdnhm.org/visit/accessibility/asd-mornings

Sensory Friendly Mornings is an early morning geared for families with children on the spectrum or with sensory sensitivities. This early morning event is a welcoming, comfortable environment for your child and family to enjoy the Museum in a quiet and accepting setting.
