Culinary Corner Visits the 94th Squadron

A Sunday Buffet Like Nobody's Business!

By Courtney Daly-Pavone May 1, 2018

It was an idyllic Sunday morning when we walked into the 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant in Kearny Mesa. The charming restaurant is a replica of a World War I French farmhouse.  The 94th Squadron sits overlooking Montgomery Field Airport and is packed full of military memorabilia.  Fighter Planes are on the lawn, Uncle Sam's iconic image is on posters on the wall.  You get a feeling that is patriotic, and you can almost hear the Benny Goodman Band playing in the background.  Patrons are taken back to the good old days, but in my case, the good old movies since the 40's were before my time.

I've been to many a buffet, but nothing in culinary history can compare to the elaborate spread at the 94th Squadron.  Classic buffet items like Eggs Benedict and Pancakes, and Waffles are there, but so are crab legs, teriyaki salmon, sushi, and an array of Mexican dishes, and a full dessert and coffee bar, and did I mention Free-Flowing Champagne?  The food is impressive and tasty, but on top of being food heaven, the Squadron also has a lovely garden area.  You can dine and enjoy their scenic patio with colorful bougainvillea, and a duck pond.  History buffs will love the antique army ambulance, and warplanes.

Service is impeccable as is the food, making the Squadron the ideal venue for Mother's Day Brunch, or even a private event.  Contact the 94th Squadron directly for pricing information.
