The Living Coast Discovery Center A Hidden Gem that Awakens Your Naturalist Spirit!

Take a trip to this Zoo and Aquarium on the San Diego Bay and experience nature and animals in a new way.  The Living Coast is located within the San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge in Chula Vista.  It gives visitors an up-close experience with many animals that are native to the San Diego environment.

I have taken many trips to the Living Coast throughout the years, but I was presently surprised by their new event schedule Naturally Wild. Each day The Living Coast will feature exciting presentations, animal encounters and hands-on activities where patrons can learn about wildlife and how animals thrive and survive in their natural habitats. There is always something happening at The Living Coast, from storytime to arts and crafts, feedings with animal trainers, and plenty of opportunities to learn and have an animal encounter.  During our Saturday visit, we learned about stingrays, leopard sharks, and sea turtles in a live feeding with a question and answer session. Also, that same day we sat in on a presentation about raptors and watched a Bald Eagle and Golden Eagle eat rats.  Children also learned about animal conservation, and how the Living Coast takes in injured wildlife and basically gives them a comfortable home.
